Ive got an Instant Pot, purchased November 2016 when my prestige pressure cooker gave up the ghost. I don't have any experience of the pressure king pro but I love my Instant Pot and if you are on Facebook I would recommend joining the UK group on there which is full of hints, tips and recipes for the pot. The group is run by UK Instant Pot customer support so mentioning another cooker is a no no, but it contains so much info it's well worth a read. The Instant Pot is out of stock until February but I think it is worth waiting for. Mine is the 6 litre 7 in 1, which makes yoghurt as well, but there are several different models and I believe some new ones planned. I make lots of yoghurt, use it as an ordinary pressure cooker for puddings and the like, its great for risotto and also just cooking ordinary rice, it has a steam function which I use for cooking vegetables, and it's also great for cheesecakes (in fact I think it's a tradition that you must make a cheesecake when you first buy it ). It also has a slow cooker function but I haven't used that. Being electric I find it so much better than having the old prestige on the hob, it's also much quieter and therefore less frightening, it has a timer function so I can set my porridge up and it's ready when I get back from my morning walk with Ripple. Sorry about sounding like an advert , but I would say the more I practice with it the more uses I find for it.
Oh and Ripple is not quite so suspicious of the microwave since OH moved it ( yes he was right it is better where he's put it ) . It's still not his favourite thing though. Between the microwave and the Instant Pot my hob and oven have nearly become redundant .
@leejane did you see the Daily Mail article ? Don't know where the prices came from, I paid £70 for mine.
Not heard of these before - just looked them up and they vary so much in price. They look a bit like a more technological pressure cooker. Intrigued.
I almost accidentally got mine - my Prestige cracked when I was making Christmas puddings in 2016, so I was in a rush to get a replacement and this seemed a good deal on Amazon. I use it so much more than I ever used my Prestige - however it appears I am part of a 'cult' .
I hadn't heard of the instant pot, looks a bit more versatile than the other versions. I will do a bit more research and see where it is cheapest to get hold of, Amazon is suggesting a ridiculous price of £600 at the moment.... but are massively pushing the pressure king pro so there's obviously some sort of deal there. I'll have a look on the instant pot Facebook page too. Is is properly non stick ? Thanks for the recommendation @SteffiS !
That price on Amazon for the Instant Pot will probably be a reseller trying to take advantage of the fact the Pot is out of stock until February, and it won't come with the official guarantee. I understand Amazon is one of the main official outlets but you can buy it in places like Costco. If you did look on the Facebook page (it's a closed group) there would be lots of info on official sellers and you can add yourself to a list where you will be informed when it comes back in to stock. It comes with a stainless steel liner, to get a true non stick liner you can buy an additional ceramic liner. I've never felt I needed this as, providing you deglaze the Pot properly after sautéing, I've never had anything burn on the bottom.
Ah that explains the stupid amazon price. I might hold fire till Feb and if I can get one for around 70, that would be great. Am intrigued by the yoghurt making.... most of the other models don't do that.

So it’s a posh pressure cooker? I have a 50 year old prestige and it will never pack in. I’d have to retire it if I fancied an instant pot. .
