New slow feeding bowl ! instead of 'what shall I make with with my new blender' instead I think 'how can I use the packaging to entertain the dog'?!

We're eating tea and Stanley knows he's supposed to stay on his bed. So he has brought his cushion onto the couch between us and laid on it.

    "technically I'm on my bed.."

Will this dog ever not outsmart me?!

Oh Jen, this did make me smile ! Sam used to climb up beside me on the sofa when I was eating , turn his back like he really wasn't interested in my sandwich , but kept having a sneaky look when he thought I wasn't looking ! They really are priceless at times , bless Stanley

Well, you Euros have just dealt with Eleanor, but the North Island of NZ is currently encountering a New Year's "weather bomb" - gale force winds, major flooding, slips etc. We're lucky in Wellington, for once not the brunt of the bad weather, but we've got winds of 120kph predicted, and it's raining steadily but not torrentially. I had the foresight to give Xena a decent walk this morning (bright blue skies, 25 degrees) knowing that we'd be housebound by late afternoon (chances of getting hit in the head by a rogue trampoline - high). Here are some photos if you're curious. I feel awful for the thousands of summer campers around the island, because it's the holiday hotspots that are bearing the brunt of this!

Yes horrible for them. We lost our tent last year in massive gales and rain - had to evacuate dogs and belongings at top speed. I was so grateful for us all getting away safely despite being saturated and minus some of our belongings. It’s a very scary experience.

Did you see the video of the chair lift in Austria?! Forgive the Daily Fail link, it’s the first one I found when searching for the video! Make sure you watch the full thing, the short clip is rubbish.

Omg no I hadn't seen that! My stomach has actually dropped watching that. What on earth were the resorts doing opening in that weather?

Yikes! Hope you're OK. And I hope it clears away soon because we're coming over to NZ in just a few weeks for holiday-of-lifetime stuff (unfortunately without Pongo)....

You and me both! We're off camping next weekend. I'm trying not to feel prematurely smug for booking our site for the second half of Jan, but who knows what the weather will do. If you're passing through Wellington let me know, we're 5 mins off the main highway. Xena looooooves new PEOPLE!

We have our first class at our new training school tonight. There are only three other dogs and one of them is the trainer’s! That makes me more nervous for some reason. But it is indoors so already much better than our old class where were were freezing. We called the last class where we got our gold award ‘Pig School’ so I reckon this is Pig College :D the Pig has regressed these past few days, running off after dogs, jumping up at people, so let’s see how she will be tonight  might have to go back to Pig Kindergarten....

Good luck at Pig college Lara, she doesn't sound like a dog who really enjoys the cold that much she might really excel being indoors and I'm sure she'll do you proud. Don't be nervous, you're the customer, paying to be there!

Is it windy by you? It sends Monty a bit loopy, my dog walker said on Wednesday nearly all the dogs she walked that day were wound up and quite out of sorts in some cases.

Oh yes it is...hmm maybe that’s it! She seems really chasey, ran away from me to chase a small dog that we normally can do off-lead heel past :( and ran off to chase a blackbird this morning, which she has never done before! She normally ignores small birds like that. Oh and got fixated on a cyclist on the road over the other side of our field! I’m back to holding the end of her long line now :(
