While we was on out walking today I noticed Bagheera had really watery poo as I was cleaning it up I see it had blood in it. He is eating and drinking fine and is still very playful. He seems like his normal self. Any advise before calling the vet please. Thank you

I would call the vet immediately.

Give plenty of water in the meantime, if he doesn’t want it put a few flakes of tuna or some honey in it.

Yes go to the vet. Try to collect a poo sample....It could be chiardia, but the vet has to confirm this...!

Hi just got back from vets. She said as he's fine in himself see how he is tomorrow lunch time but has advised chicken and rice little and often see how he goes. If anything changes then I have to take him straight back. Thank you x

Did you see bright red blood? Or was the stool a dark colour? Generally, the first means a cut on the anus or somewhere pretty close to the exit point. Maybe from a bit of sharp bone or stick. Dark stool is indicative of internal bleeding and I've been told might be more serious. Of course the amount you see is important too, a lot of bright red spots is Vet time. And whether you keep seeing it in subsequent stools.

I'm sure you have nothing to worry about here, especially if it was a one off. Always better to be safe than sorry though so at least it puts your mind at rest going to the vet!

Hope your pup comes good quickly.

Snowshoe: Bright red blood can be intestinal bleeding from an infection or disease process, not just from a cut or abrasion.

If your pup or dog does an unusual poo remember to take a good clear photo of it for the vet. Much easier than trying to describe what you saw.

Amber had bloody stools when she was a little pup. I was worried sick until the vet pointed out she hadn't been wormed by her breeder, I hope it is something as simple as this for you.

Use your phone to take a photo. You can show it to your vet.

Glad the vet has seen him. Just monitor him and go back to the vets if you see any more blood. Hope it was a one off

Hi all, we had to go back to the vets yesterday as the was pooing just blood. They gave him antibiotics & I need to collect 3 poo samples over the next couple of days. Have been told to feed him chicken and white fish. He's not very happy with me as it's little & often rather then a big bowl. Back to the vets Monday and hopefully he's better by then. Seen an improvement in his poo today so looking good. X p.s I did take photos.
