Smuggety-smug! We were walking up the road this morning, and Ivy, the Border Collie who goes to training (and lives a few doors away), was walking down with the husband, and she was pulling, twirling and tugging on the lead all the way. We crossed, to give her space, called out a cheery "good morning" and walked on with our noses in the air. Thank you Coco, for not playing up! Proud dog mummy & daddy this morning. Ivy is a lovely dog, but the woman (who takes her to training) is so up herself. She's the one who uses the anti-bark collar on her other BC, creaky old Fly.
I'm not worried about her she just shrugged it off. She's a tough old thing confident in herself a trusting me she's seen it all before. I get so tired about my dogs being threatened and abused by idiots dogs.
I had a stomach bug yesterday and today Molly seems a bit unwell ( she’s been sick and is a bit lacking in energy). It can’t be the same thing can it?
OH has been doing virtually all the walking over Christmas and New Year as I felt so rotten from that cold. Anyway I thought I had better get back in the swing of things as OH is back to Saudi tomorrow, so we went out together with Ripple. What a pain he was, pulling on the lead, ignoring any instructions to walk to heel, not sitting when asked at gates. When it was safe I let him off the lead, then he had a total doolally culminating in his horrible jumping up and biting games, ripping my coat and bruising my arm through about four layers of clothing . Then running off, ignoring the whistle and calls to return. He was really hard work and made what should have been a pleasant Sunday afternoon walk into a real chore. I don't really think I can blame OH as we did have the incident with the duck on Christmas Eve and Ripple wouldn't come back then either. I'm sure he had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute of his walk but I wish he'd blimmin calm down
On our walk this morning we met a couple with a lovely 6 month old Lab pup. We chatted with them for a while and they said that he seemed to be going backwards with his training. They seemed reassured when I said that it was normal at this age. Naturally I pointed them towards the forum!
The last two times that we've had a stomach bug (life with a toddler = plenty of bugs), Ella has been sick too. Seems like too much of a coincidence. Hope you're feeling better.
As usual Stanley exceeded all expectations. That's he first time he's ever stayed with my mam and dad and the first time he's been away from me since July. She said he settled like a dream and slept all night no fuss and they just got lots of tail wagging in the morning. He's such a good lad
Smiling in his sleep. I like to think it's because he's home with me but it's probably just because he lives the life of riley
Am I the only one who just digs up the offending patch of lawn when their dog has a squirty bum? The hose doesn't reach that far, and there's only so much goop you can scoop up with a plastic bag
No I just scoop it up with a bag over my hands. It's squeeze but lovely and warm on a cold day. Oh and I have a quick sort through to find our if anything has caused the squirtiness. I just like to know
I scooped as much as I could with the old plastic bag, but a lot remained on the grass. I don't mind warm poo bags, but not with bonus "runny bum" smell
Gosh, I can't even remember how many times I've had to clean and pick up Bowie's multi shaped/textured/coloured/consistency poos (sometimes in the most unsuitable places too)!!! Just thinking, who's the master/leader now - definitely not the one picking up the poos We actually have 'poo shovels' dedicated to the sole purpose!!!
This is why I love snow season. If there's a runny one (and we've had a couple since being here), you just scoop up the snow from underneath. It makes the poo bag look terrifyingly large, and I imagine if the air temperature is a bit warmer you want to get it in a bin before it melts, but it's definitely easier than scraping it up off grass or tarmac!
After trying to get as much into a poo bag, I always use a full watering can over squitty poo to disperse it .
