Love the way he’s looking at you . Well done both of you. On the bumbag subject - DH has a leather one and wears it every walk - he takes secateurs as sometimes has to hack at brambles and twigs in the woods . He also takes his whistle, poo bags, pot of treats for Sky and Red .
Well done @JenBainbridge and Stanners, that is a truly superb photo, absolutely wonderful.# Yes, I agree they enhance our lives and doing stuff with them is so enjoyable, and I find myself thinking, what else do I want to do ?
What a fantastic race time!! I’m impressed!! Is this the parkrun? I also started it a few weeks ago - I believe it’s an international thing. I’ve also never run 5km. But Snowie runs that regularly on our walks - off leash, on his own steam. We basically did interval training during the parkrun: stop for a sniff and wee, race past everyone, stop and repeat while everyone passes us, race, stop, and so on. I don’t push Snowie, but he hardly needs it - his normal trotting pace is a faster run than I would normally do! In fact, I’m pretty sure I would’ve walked a lot more if he’d not been keen to run ahead. He loved the crowd and all the dogs (not many dogs - about 10 - but about 1000 people!!). Luckily there’s water - he swam with the gannets in the lake during the run, and sloshed in the shallow canal - it’s very hot here, he’d not manage without water. Our best time has been 37 min, worst 44 min - and this includes the millions of wees, of course a poo, and various water stops. I must say, I’m hooked!! I think Snowie is, too - he gets so excited! Will you run this again with Stanley?
Wonderful photo. I am too a parkrun fan. I haver never taken Meg though, still chasing my PB. I am a runner and have run miles and miles with Jasper my Malamute at my side. He instinctively knew what9to do and never pulled me once, but he is retired now. Meg has always been a bit under my feet when I have tried but am going to try again now. I am currently doing RED January (Run Every Day) so need to include her. Actually your photo has nudged me to get out now with her while it is still light....Thanks p s am only down the road from you in North York's
Your times are really good, especially with the heat there!! I was planning on it but I've woken up and can hardly move so that has put me off We took Stanners to the beach and I had to walk down loads of steps and I got halfway down and I had to stop but I wanted to cry because the pain was so bad that I started laughing but then I started crying. OH just walked off like and it was left to a random man to be like y'alright pet? How embarrassing hopefully it won't hurt as much next time!!
I must admit when you said you were doing a 5k run I thought you meant in a couple of months and you would be working up to it with Stanley - not virtually the next day . Well done for completing it and in a good time, lovely picture as well. I think Stanley was saying 'can we go round again Mum?'
You’ve got to push through!! My thighs never felt so achey! But it does get easier each week. Snowie sleeps really well after the Parkrun - lots of excitement aside from the exercise, which he’d do anyway on our walks. But I guess it’s more sustained running, not as much hanging around tree trunks. How’s Stanley after the run?
Wonderful post - you've given me such a chuckle (stealing cones!) plus brought around those onion-cutting ninjas with talking about Stanley as your best friend. Judging from that lovely photo, he'd say the same of you.
He was completely fine! Didn't want a walk for the rest of the day but was fine yesterday. It was more of a trot to him than a run, I'm sure at a few points he was looking at me like mam this is embarrassing.. we can definitely go faster
