What is your opinion on Labradoodles and hybrids in general?

Sigh! Oh Picasso! You are gorgeous...

 

I pick up my Australian Labradoodle on Monday week. I'm so excited! I'm sure the breeder is 100% fine. She has a playroom/experience room for the pups that is bigger than my lounge! Complete with tunnels, a slide and can you believe - a Wendy house!
As for the pup, he is so, so cute!

 

We look forward to hearing (and seeing) all about him @Gilllee!

We met quite a few ‘Australian’ Labradoodles when we first had our dog. They seemed more uniformed in size and appearance than other Labradoodles we had met (I would say more poodle and a look of Irish Water spaniel than lab about them - quite beautiful). They all had super temperaments too and had been purchased from breeders that health checked their dogs. My only concern was that some of the breeders insist on ‘early desexing’ so puppies are neutered at about 10 weeks of age.

We don’t see many Labradoodles around our way. Cockerpoos are definitely the second favourite to Labradors.

Picasso is just gorgeous, but I am biased because he looks very ‘Flatcoat’. Now you’ve got me thinking about a GR/Flatcoat for dog number 2

 

I was curious whether this was a UK graph or world wide? If I understand correctly Guide Dogs for the Blind in Oregon uses mostly Labs that are from their own breeding program.

 

I just checked the Guide Dogs Australia website and it says:

" We primarily use purebred Labradors in our Guide Dog program because they are calm, loyal and intelligent, and have a proven record in training to become guides. Our Labradors can come in three distinct colours: yellow, black and chocolate."

 

These are the breeds used in the U.K. All bred by GDs. ‘tho they do import some of their breeding stock. They have just imported two standard poodles and a curly coated retriever to become GD stud dogs.

 

These are all GD puppies.

16 week old black/tan GSD River, 6 month old black labradoodle Wilbur, 17 week old yellow labrador x GR Quince and 10 month old GR Banksy.

 

They are all gorgeous , but that Wilbur , he is fantastic !

 

Ooooh Quince, what a perfect name for a puppy And she/he is so beautiful, too.
