Well the cyclone is no longer a cyclone but a "sub tropical system", so that's a massive relief. It tracked slightly south overnight so Wellington is going to miss the worst of it it seems - steady rain rather than torrential, and 130kph wind from this afternoon, which is still bad and will definitely cause drama but we've had winds that big before so I'm not too worried...famous last words. Thanks for all your kind thoughts xoxo

I’m not surprised. Hope it’s not as strong as forecast. Keep safe.

Hope all is well in Wellington Sophie. I lived there for nearly 2 years and it is such a gorgeous (albeit windy) City. In fact I met my now hubby of 25 years there and imported him back to Australia :) so it was a long long time ago. We go back when we can to visit friends and I always look forward to it.

I’ve been trying to teach Axel middle, after seeing Jen’s post, well I only just started tonight to be honest. The first few times I basically ending up riding Axel like a horse:cwl: he eventually caught on that he has to duck when he goes through my legs!

This boy sure makes me laugh:D

Hope it went passed you ok! We just caught the skirts of it up here in Rotorua, a bit blustery but no worse than that.
Heading home today, we have had a fantastic time in your outstanding country. Love NZ, love Kiwis!

Everyone at work made fun of me today because I booked Stanleys birthday off work o_O I didn't really see the big deal.. i don't say anything when people book their kids birthdays off.

He's gunna be the big 2  because he's been such a good boy lately and curbed his destroying things, he's getting an orvis bed. If he destroys it, I think I'll cry

    Happy Birthday Stanley!!!

I can't see anything wrong with taking a day off to celebrate his birthday. I'll be doing the same for Maxx each year.

It's still a couple of weeks away but I just made sure no one else stole it. :)

I'm glad someone agrees with me.. it's a very important day! I'm determined one year he's going to have a party with all his Doggy friends, but I still need to work on OH ;)

I hate when people wish their young children happy birthday (your baby can't read!) on FB, but I think it's sweet to wish your pets happy birthday on FB :D So I totally understand why you'd take leave for Stanley's big day and don't think it's weird!

We were so lucky in Wellington that the storm tracked further south. Our fortune was the South Island's misfortune, sadly. Glad that it didn't cause too much havoc for you in Rotorua, Rosie!

I’m glad the storm missed you, Sophie. NZ sounds a wonderful place to live, but a bit scary too...

For W&S's first birthday, we went back to where they were bred and met up with all the litter mates, mum and dad again :)

There was cake. And wine for us :)

I wish we'd done something like that but her sister now lives in Qld so it's a little more tricky.

On a totally separate note, Ella's sister achieved her CH. in the show ring, has passed all of her health tests and her owner (our breeder's daughter - puppy was returned and rehomed with family) has registered a breeder prefix with the KC. Ella could be an Aunty! Poor Ella didn't receive the show ring quality though :p

We did that with our first chocolate lab, it was really good to see them all. Unfortunately my lab (Rolo) tried to steal his Mum's treat (she gave him a good telling off). Also Rolo was the one who looked like a fruit loop in all the photos  - I suspect it was dogs taking after their owners bearing in mind how Ripple is :D.

Poor old Pig doesn’t get much of a birthday because I feel so guilty for all the stuff I buy her the rest of the year! And I lament the rapidly fading excuse of “oh but she’s only young” when she is bouncing round like a lunatic. She’ll be three in the summer! Although people generally assume she is still a puppy because she never grew into her paws :)

Yeah when Stanley is up to no good and people are like "aw he's only a baby" I never disagree. I'm like "yes, yes he is".

Although people are going to start questioning me soon, he's been about 6 months for the whole 2 years we've had him

As long as you keep saying their age in months it’s fine...”oh she’s only 36 months...”

Now I'm looking at beds for Ella's birthday. I had contemplated upgrading our bed to a King and scrapping a bed for her all together. I'm blaming you if my OH divorces meo_O ;)

I wanted that one but OH said no :( we're getting a slate one apparently. I feel as though I can only complain too much because he'll contribute more as I spend my money on eyebrows and snacks
