Hi all Probably obvious to those in the know, but I’m new to all this.. Holly is 23.5 kilos at one year, her weight has been the same for the last two months. She’s not underweight, but is small. Do I keep her on large puppy food (Orijen) for a bit longer in case she is still growing, or should I switch to adult food? Also, while i’m here, she was spayed a month ago and now she is moulting .. i’ve been told it’s moulting time but seriously, the amount of hair is staggering, is this normal??
I've had a quick look at the Orijen Large Puppy online but can't see any manufacturer recommendation on age to swap to adult version. All I could find was when fully grown to switch to one of their adult versions - not very helpful! As she is a year old I would probably be thinking of switching over to adult version as the current bag runs out. It sounds as if she is one of our more petite Labs and she is unlikely to grow much more now. Welcome to the world of Lab ownership at moult time . Yep a Lab in full moult is wonderful to live with. My two Labs have just started . I have just tried to tidy myself up - I have navy on today - and given up!!! My puppy is 15 months and fed on Symply puppy kibble - Symply say to keep her on it until she is 18 months. She is under 20kg (at last weigh in). I would contact the manufacturers.

Brush them every day and twice on Sundays! They shed a little from the start, but once they have had their 1st proper moult the shedding seems to get much worse, even though they have 2 full moults as well. Invest in a Furminator, or similar, but try one out first, if possible, in case it does not suit your dog. I have 3 different types of brush and sometimes use them all at once if I have help. Only outdoors, of course, and don't forget to leave the brushed out hair for the birds to line their nests.
Try having four! (manic laugh...) Seriously, though regarding moulting, the two blacks have rather thin, silky smooth coats, and I don't really notice their moult too much, just the corners of the living room look slightly darker . The chocolates though, blimey I could make a coat out their moulting fur! I only brush through when they are in moult.
My fluffy-coated yellow is by far the worst. Willow (black) has a thin coat and doesn't shed a lot. The choccy (Luna) has a proper double coat but still doesn't shed much, except during the seasonal moult. Shadow, though ... Christ on a bike, it's everywhere. Constantly.
Yep! The yellows definitely shed more. You can feed them Yumega Oil, which cuts it down, but it is rather expensive.
My cross breed sheds all the time. I've not noticed a seasonal moult, but going by how much I hoover up every day, there couldn't be much more to shed! I've just done it now (last hoovered 2 days ago), I emptied the standard dyson bin before I started - it's full again - that was the living room, the hall and the bedroom.
Moo moult is very weird this year and the black hair are moulting out white the frosty old girl also has a different moult pattern all her belly and under her back legs is coming out loads. I do wonder if her health problems are affecting this as its only this year. I've also got he a new brush to get her undercoat out called a pet teezer de~shedder because the furminator is to harsh for her now. It good so far it's taking her undercoat out without being to hard on her. Firm strokes are hard for her to tolerate now so I have to be really gentle
