I probably saw a wolf in the woods yesterday morning. Finn was off lead and I walked with my son and granddaughter in the fog in the woods. Finn was very restless. His hair on his back were upright, as he was scared. I didn’t like this at all. Couldn’t catch him, recall was worthless. We made some pictures and wanted to turn back. We saw suddenly a big dog in the fog, watching us. Finn was at that time at my feed. The big dog turned and walked away, no one with him....didn’t see a person with him! We wanted to walk back to our house and Finn went crazy! Loud barking and running around, hair heavily upright. He luckily came soon back and we continued walking home. My son was the one who said “did we just witnessed a wolf?”. At that very moment I thought wolfs were dark, so I said I didn’t think so. Just a couple of minutes I saw on the news an item about a wolf. I saw an image and yes, that is what we saw! I showed my son the picture and he confirmed this. It certainly explains why Finn’s behavior was like this!

Oh wow, I think I would have been scared, especially with the dog acting like that too!

What an amazing sight. I understand why Finn & you were scared, but how privileged you were to see a wolf.

I must say it was quite a challenge to go out and walk Finn late in the evening, knowing a wolf is in the neighborhood....

Lucky you. :) We have seen coyotes while dog walking. We have only heard wolves while canoe tripping.

Oh that’s very exciting! And a bit unerving with the fog setting

I was horse back riding last fall and the horse I was on stopped abruptly so I looked on ahead and a black wolf was on the trail watching us. He left after what felt like forever but was probably only 15 seconds :p

It was exactly like this. It only was a brownish/light colored one. That’s why I didn’t recognize it at first for I thought they were black or grey.

Cool! We have wolves around here but have never seen one. It would be a bit unnerving to have a close encounter, that’s for sure. And where there’s one there is likely others. Have you heard them nearby?

No, I didn’t hear them! So now and then they are spotted wandering through The Netherlands. It was on the news that there was one seen in this neighborhood

Apparently we have a couple of hundred living in Germany too.. I thought I saw one the other day, it was early morning, misty and rainy, and I was walking the dogs through the wood when I saw something slowly move towards us through the trees... All I really saw was a four-legged shape and a face looking at the dogs! For one instant my response was 'oh my god, it's a wolf!!!'...

Actually it was a deer. But still.
