My 6 month old female lab has taken to doing (at times) an asymmetrical squat when she pees. One leg is much further out than the other. (Most of the time. Sometimes they are the same). She doesn't seem to be in any pain, runs and jumps like normal, and I don't really see any issues, but it is disconcerning. She has a vet appointment in a few weeks for an unrelated issue and I will bring it up then (or sooner if she displays any signs of actually being injured). Anyone ever see this in their female dogs? I have never had a female dog before so I have no idea if this is normal or not. I think I saw her do it with the other leg one time, but I can't be sure. The vet had checked her hips when she was younger and said everything looked and felt good. I am a worrying doggy Daddy. Thanks!
Mine lifts her leg when she squats and pees. Has been known to clck her leg up a tree. With a partial squat. I think girls do this.
My foster Conchita cocked her leg to pee nearly every time before her amputation. She's a real marker, which Willow and Luna don't really do. W&S's sister Annie does the same.
Xena does a partial cock quite regularly (sometimes a full one!), this has increased with age (she's almost 2). She marks quite a lot on walks, probably not as much as a male but way more than I thought bitches did.
Hattie squats, cocks her leg way out and up, whereas my boy Charlie at 7 years old has never cocked his leg and pees like a GIRL!! x
She doesn’t lift just squats with one leg further out than the other. It is odd. Does she lift the same leg? Starting to sound like my pup isn't all that abnormal.
She certainly does now because she’s had a front leg amputation and lifting the same side hind leg would result in some toppling action
I think they put a leg out to stop it getting wet with the wee On a more serious note, it might be to help balance, my bitches always squatted like that.
