We noticed Quinn slightly limping on her right front leg yesterday, and obviously I am freaking out. We rested her yesterday and today there is still a slight limp. I want to go to the vet, but OH wants to rest her a few more days in case it's a paw injury we can't see or she just landed funny when running and thinks the vet will only guess right now, and want to see her again if she's still limping in a few days. Would you go to the vet right away?

I would, yes, if only to put my mind at rest and to stop myself from freaking out.

No I would wait a few more days if she doesn’t appear to be any pain or distress.

I would wait and see. Unless she is uncomfortable and in much pain.

As the owner of a dog with ED I would go to the vet if after 48hrs there is still a sign of a limp. Dogs do not limp without a reason whether it is just a sore muscle, a sore paw or something else. If a dog is limping they are experiencing sone level of pain which needs to be resolved as a minimum. Let us know how you get on @QuinnM15

When my dog was a puppy he limped three times in his first year, a front leg each time. We did go to the vet each time and the advice was complete rest until the limp went, and then thereafter another ten days rest to make sure it was properly healed. Vet never found anything wrong, put it down to puppy exuberance. Subsequently he was x-rayed at 4 yo (he had back problem) and his elbows were fine.

I hope yours is also just puppy exuberance. Good luck.

I waited a few days and put her rest for 2 days then on very short lead walks for 2 days then went to the vet as it persisted as soon as she was walking again.

Thanks everyone. She seemed ok this evening on a short walk, so I will keep her on short leash walks tomorrow and see how she is. I did find some blood when I was cleaning the floors tonight, so she may actually have hurt her paw on something, which is a relief in a way.
