Please can someone tell me how to stop my 9month old peeing in pet shops
    Done it twice today?
Have walked him for few minutes before?

    Looks like he’s marking.

If mine ever look like they may pee in shops I make sure they don’t sniff at all and keep their heads up all the way round, by keeping their interest on me. There are usually quite a few behaviours before peeing happens. Stopping, sniffing etc. If you need to stop and look at things get him in a ‘sit and wait’ or ‘down and stay’ position so that you know what he’s doing and he’s not in a position to pee.

Pet shops are the hardest of the lot - so many interesting smells!

    :)

Mine did this at about this age it's just like boogie@ says he's just marking. He did it in a pet shop (my friends)too and up my mums Christmas tree:). I did just what boogie@ suggested and just distracted him and let him learn that he didn't need to scent mark . They just have to learn it's not so important to wee up everything. He's fine but just had to be careful until he was less excited about his new weeing technique.

Especially with all the other boy dogs who have weed there before yours! It's a vicious circle :)

@Boogie has got it covered. You figure out the signs and WATCH HIM LIKE A HAWK. The times that mine have weed in a pet shop was that moment I was distracted with studying an ingredients list, or getting out my card to pay, or whatever distraction it was. What I call 'operator error'. :D

Thank you, just feel very embarrassed and thought it was becoming a habit as has done it couple times before. I will definitely try what @Boogie suggested.

Bless them not! He just takes one sniff and then pees. But will take @boogies advice and I’m sure I will feel much more confident

    I know, @Boogie is great!
I will do next time. I always know what I need and I just grab and go if I can. Cards are in pocket so no handbag to fiddle with.

WAtch hin like a hawk till he knows the difference. As others said it's pretty common. Boy dogs do have to be potty trained twice, first on horizontal surfaces and then around 8 months or so again on vertical surfaces. VEt offices are another place it might happen, all those smells. And girl dogs will pee at the Vet and Pet stores too.
