There’s good Stanley news and bad Stanley news. The good news is that he’s getting better each day, hasn’t had any sickness since Thursday and his poo’s have formed back up.

The bad news is he’s supposed to be having an endoscopy on Wednesday. But we’re having chew with his insurance because he had diarrhoea as a 10 week pup before the policy was in place and there’s potential for them to argue that it’s a pre-existing condition. Which is just an absolute joke! He was a puppy with the trots, how can you connect that to something 2 years later I will never know and I will fight it all the way to the top.

So we’ll wait and see :(

Great that Stanley is getting better :) Crap about the insurance, but how can they argue it was pre-existing if he had an upset stomach before the policy was in place, surely you couldn't claim or am I misunderstanding Jen? x

Yeah now they’re saying we might not be able to claim  but I’ll literally fight it.

A puppy with a runny tummy after his first worming tablet is not a pre-existing condition.

I hope you get it sorted Jen as the last thing you need is the stress of a 'claim'. Sounds really petty of the insurance company. xx

They just don't like to pay they try to argue everything's a preexisting condition it's their go to answer . Just stick to your guns appeal and kick up a fuss. They tried it 3 times with me 2,with Doug and 1 with Rory. It depends which insurance. Company you're with. The problem is very often the people who deal with the claim are not medically trained. Document everything don't tell them anything don't trust them. Make sure you complain officially and if they ask a question refer them back to your vet. Good luck and give em hell. Glad Stanley's a bit better.

Thanks! They won’t have counted on me being a litigation solicitor who’s boss is probably one of the best solicitors in the North. It’s my job to be good at fighting :D

I’m trying to remain positive but it’s all just starting to take it’s toll now. Every single hurdle has felt like a marathon.

I’ve lost half a stone in a week, my spots are like nothing I’ve seen since I was a teenager and I’m just so so tired. The only thing I was counting on was him getting this treatment and now even that’s up in the air. :(

I really feel for you Jen.
Horrible situation. All the uncertainty is just rubbish :(
These insurance companies shouldn't get away with it. You give them all you got!

You've got this, Jen. You've got the background and the colleagues to be able to play them at their own game. Gods, what a joke. Everybody - man, woman, dog - gets the trots from time to time. What a weak excuse!

Please look after yourself Jen xx xx. I've won everytime it just takes time. They keep you waiting and see if you go away but they need to access the vet records properly. You can do payment plans for treatment most vets are agreeable to this. I really understand how hard it's is to battle this kind of thing and have a sick dog too. Big hugs to you and Stanley xxx

Oh dear, Jen, i thought insurance was supposed to help to ease the stress, not add to it. I hope you get it sorted.

It’s good to hear that Stanley’s improving - look after yourself too.

Glad Stanley is on the mend. Don't let the insurance company get away with it. I am sure your vet and boss will help you. Take care of yourself too.

Aww Jen, so sorry for you. Have you taken the week off anyway or gone back to work?
Glad to hear Stanley is getting better, will you still go ahead with the endoscopy if Stanley continues to improve today?

I simply can't fathom how they can decide that a 10 month old with a runny tummy could possibly be a pre-condition to something 2 years later? I am so glad to hear that you are a lawyer - go get 'em Jen . Every puppy has diarrhea at some stage. I hate insurance companies more than I can say.

Please try to look after yourself too....but I know that is near impossible given the circumstances

Been there with an insurance company with my first boy. It took a letter from the expert in lymphoma at the Royal Dick vet hospital before they would pay out.

It's the last thing you need to be dealing with when you are worrying about Stanley (sometimes I wonder if that's what they rely on).
I'm sure the insurance company have met their match in you.

Hope you can get to the bottom of Stanley's problems.

I had the same issue with Ella. Vet notes said "appears a little itchy" at 8 weeks old. Then, at 10months old she got ringworm but the insurance company wouldn't pay up as any organ with a pre-existing condition was excluded.

I'm now wondering if I should have fought harder
