So Far Tilly's blood tests are fine, but it is really too early to tell. They will do another one tonight, and if it is good, she can probably come home tomorrow (Saturday) She did have a runny poo today, which is somewhat concerning, but we probably won't know anything significant until Saturday am.

Two days before this we had a three day sample urine test, that came back with no kidney issues, so at least going into this she was in good shape.

Cooper is going in for her second blood test today. So far there are no indications that she has any problems, but again, it is early.

That is good news. A runny tummy might be a good thing under the circumstances - might mean that less of the drug was absorbed.

Hoping the next round of tests produce good results, too.

Tilly is home, and her blood tests have all been good so far. The Vet thinks we succeeded in getting most of the meds out of her system with the Hydrogen Peroxide. She has quite a few meds for a few days, but seems like her old self. Actually she never acted sick from this, but that is not really surprising since the problems would come up later. The whole bill for 3 days in the hospital was around $1600, so not too bad. We went to visit her on Thursday and Friday, and took her and Cooper for a short walk each time.

We tried to get a second blood draw from Cooper just to be on the safe side, but she has not having it. Barely could get out of the car at the Vets, and she would not go in. Our Vet and a couple of techs came out to try to entice her, but NO NO NO. Our Vet said she did not think it was worth the trauma to Cooper, and did not want to sedate her, to do the second draw, so we will just watch her.

For future reference use a turkey baster for the Hydrogen Peroxide. It would be easier than a cup.

We are all going to the Beach on Sunday. Tilly will have to take it easy, but at least she will have some fun.

What does this mean? How did you get Tilly to swallow a liquid she wouldn’t normally want to? And what percentage dilution did you use - for future reference, one never knows when it might come in handy knowing this stuff.

Glad all is good! What a relief. Now that all is good, I’ll let you know that we keep NSAIDs in a glass jar that a dog can’t get into - vet warned us.

It is 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, which is the typical over the counter product here. Use it straight out of the bottle. I'm sure there are some quantity guidelines somewhere, but we know that 1 to 2 oz is appropriate for a Lab sized dog. In the past we have just opened their mouth, tipped their head back and poured. We did not get anywhere near the whole shot in Tilly, as it went all over the place, but it was enough. I've read since to use a Baster which makes a lot of sense. Do this outdoors because you will spill Hydrogen Peroxide, and the dog will probably throw up in less than a minute. This works because dogs can pretty much throw up at will, any time something upsets their stomach. I don't know if it might take more on a full stomach, but Tilly had not eaten at the time she got into her meds, so she was pretty much empty. Years ago, we had to do this with our first Lab Ginger, when she ate a 16 oz semi sweet chocolate bar. It worked amazingly well.

All of our meds and dog meds are now either in upper cabinets, or a big screw top plastic storage container that is almost bear proof. The meds that Tilly got into were in a plastic pill bottle and she just crunched it open
