I think the ‘scatter’ approach could be the answer. This morning in the garden, Red was fetching me big stones and lumps of soil. Initially I ‘swopped’ them for tiny bits of kibble. Then when she went in the borders which are full of big shrubs, I said ‘scatter’ and she came out like a shot looking for treats - she understands ‘scatter’ . Anyway, I going to do this daily and have told DH. He is taking on board more and more of my suggestions but I acknowledge it’s harder for him to divert her when he’s out in the fields and woods. I am pleased though that he is adopting more and more positive strategies. Red adores him.
Scatter is really good -- I use it quite a bit, Cassie seemed to latch on to it pretty quickly, but I would benefit I think from working on it more.
