That would have been Brogan or Toby/Alf. Carbon is at the moment more of a Rory. But there's hope, he may yet turn INTO a Jack. He just needs a little more swash in his buckle. :D

I've really been falling down on the job here in terms of posting - so many Paul/Carbon adventures and photos, yet every night I just kind of crawl into bed feeling like someone has run me over with some of those big tracker trailer farming tires. Yesterday we left home at 6:30am and got back at 10pm - long story which hopefully I can tell here - which was a great practice run for how the boys will do on our long drive to the UK.

No surprises really - Paul does great for two hours, then sings like a banshee, then calms down for another hour, then sings again and MUST get out. We also ended up mistakenly in the middle of a "feria" (kind of combined horse fair/street party/cultural event). Thousands of people, hundreds of food booths. Poor, poor Carbon. The dilemma: do I keep my head down and sneak all the food I can off the pavement or do I keep my head up and accept all the free pats from the lovely strangers?

But for now, a few backlog photos of the boys enjoying an offleash beach run and the aftermath! :)

Finally sitting down to plan the dreaded task of planning the big trip to the UK. Paul is helping. :D

The funny thing is that in person, he's got a very sweet and innocent face.

Then I photograph him and half the time he looks like he's planning world domination! :cwl:

Better late than never, here are some photos from our outing to the ADANA art show several weeks ago.

It was a great time, held in an old castle right on the coast, dog-friendly (of course) and beautiful weather. True to form, Carbon worked the crowd something fierce and was a big hit. As he did during the dog show two weeks earlier, he did NOT want to leave and we had quite a discussion about that at the end of the day. If he was a toddler, he would have put his hands on his hips and screamed, "Nooo, nooo, I don't WANNA go!"

It was a very small venue (maybe a dozen or so artists total), but we stayed the entire time it ran. Paul was pretty bored by the whole thing until the music started and then he really seemed into it, happy to sit on my lap while Carbon sat next to me.

Carbon got lots of pats and attention, began his now-tradition of trying to hoover up every stray bit of food on the ground and generally showed off his star quality. The crowd was mainly English so Carbon gots lots of Labrador love. Paul passed a bit more un-noticed but in addition to the music enjoyed exploring the upper level of the old fort and the boat harbour afterwards.

A winning day out was had by all and I had two tired doggies to transport home at the end of the day. :)

Entering the show with swagger..."We OWN this place!"

Did I buy any art in support of a good cause? Well, yes, I did. Not a great photo, but does it remind you of anyone? :D

Heh, Paul looks like he's plotting again in that "best buddies" photo :D

That "art" is so cute and what a wonderful memento for you :)

Well, tonight I thought the evening walk would be a leisurely spin around the neighbourhood letting the boys take their time sniffing.

Paul sniffed up a foxtail.

With Paul sneezing like a maniac and blood coming out of his nose, it was off to the vet just before they closed at 9pm. Of course he wouldn't let the vet look in his nose with the scope, so he had to be doped up. Then his nose was too small for the scope or the foxtail was too deep because the end result was that the foxtail is still in there. He has to go back tomorrow morning for a laparoscopic OP under GA. Poor little man.

After the shot to knock him out, he got a jab of antibiotics and another to wake him up. He stumbled out of the vet's like he'd been on a 3 day bender, but they wanted me to make him walk and not carry him. In the car, he made a horrible pitiful noise that sounded like a cross between a 90-year-old drunk and a rusty door hinge.

Carbon thought the whole thing was GREAT. He escaped down the hospital corridor at one point, got pets from all the vet techs and enjoyed the fact that he could give everyone kisses without Paul stealing his thunder. He did give Paul kisses as he was waking up, so he didn't TOTALLY forget about his buddy, but it was clear that he thought Paul had provided a fun evening's entertainment versus a medical emergency.

Now Paul is sleeping it off on the bed, ignorant of the fact that "part two" of his adventure awaits tomorrow...
