That's exactly what I call my car, when hubby says it is in a mess "look at the state of it!", I say "welll it's only a dog mobile". Also I think that when I open the doors a cloud of doggy smell escapes each time, if someone else where to get in they would choke on it. Trouble is I am now nose blind so can't tell.
We have a beach holiday once a year on Lindisfarne. Keir will miss out and it’ll be the next pup who comes in September. I found the seaweed a nuisance - Mollie loved to eat the roots so I’m going to take plenty of high value treats for ‘not eating seaweed’ training when we go. .
Ha, ha yes I know. Turn up and deal with whatever comes can be the most enjoyable way. But I am usually a stickler for detail so have a huge bag of Maisy's stuff - just in case!! We are off tomorrow so thanks everyone for your tips and ideas
My tip is to not have any expectations lol. A dog at the beach is a hoot. If they haven’t grown up at the beach from a pup they will have the time of their life(off lead). So many smells and yummy things to eat. Seaweed, dead birds and peoples lunches. Recall usually goes out the window too. I guess I’m talking from my own past experiences. I hated the beach. We went when there was y no one there and I usually spent and hour or two trying to catch him. It was a nightmare for me. It was my parents dog and they were always asking me to take him. If I could do it all over again I’d socialize him there from the minute his shots kicked in. Oh, I also loved it when he would randomly dig launching piles of sand on strangers whilst they were resting.
My tip is...hope you are OK with sand literally everywhere, forever!...maybe this should actually go in the 'you know you have a Labrador when' post...
We have moved on a bit. So long as I have Charlie's football, and am playing football with him, he'll leave other footballs alone. Mostly. I can't actually stop playing football, or asking him to do something that leads to playing football, but you know - progress is progress.
Well we are back and all was fine, and Maisy absolutely loved it. The beach is amazing, clean, shallow and mainly just dog walkers when we went, you can see for miles as there are no groins or fencing. She made lots of friends and the dunes bordering the beach are fantastic (we got to the beach cafe and I instantly started questioning the locals about adders). Also no squirting salt water from anywhere and the sand all came off as we walked back through the dunes - bonus! If anyone is in that area I recommend taking your dog there. Thanks everyone for your tips. I haven't added photos before so I hope these come out.
Thanks, sorry but no opportunities for 'picnic raiding' - thank goodness. If there had been anyone with a ball we would have got a picture of 'ball bursting' as Maisy is really good at that at the moment!
