Best brand / type of puppy exercise pen that won't slide around?

    Hi all,

My wife and I are planning on bringing home a lab puppy sometime in the next few months and I've started to review the different brands / types of puppy pens out there. We'll be crate training the pup, but I want to provide the pup with a bit more room to move around when we have to leave him home alone for a few hours. Would like to have the crate either in the pen or one of those built-in pen/crate combos so the pup can choose pen or crate. Does anyone have recommendations on the best brand or model of exercise pen out there? My main concern is that I want something that the puppy won't be able to push/slide around across the ground (bang into walls, etc.) I'm hoping to use this pen until the puppy is 10 months old or so, so I'm looking for something that is fairly strong / heavy duty. I'd prefer it to be free standing so I don't have to anchor it to a wall, etc.

    Thanks!

I bought the 80cm high version of this: https://www.petplanet.co.uk/product_group.asp?dept_id=774&pg_id=4145

I have it attached to Ziggy's crate via a couple of velcro tie wraps (positioned in the top corner of the crate so he can't chew them. It's on tiled floors and whilst the panels slide around a bit the combined weight of the pen/crate means it's fairly planted. Worked a treat for us...well maybe not him as he prefers the run of the house but that's his tough luck :D

We looked for ages and were not able to find anything that would last past a few weeks without sliding. We decided it made more sense to use baby gates to close off a room for him (in our case the kitchen). would that be an option for you?

I used an Ellie Bo pen (lent to me by the lovely Kate @Beanwood). I'm not saying it couldn't move, but my puppy didn't push it around intentionally, just a bit of crashing into the sides when she was having a barmy moment which would put it off square. I used it with her for a long time because my other two wanted to kill her when she was a baby. It was brilliant.

Hi Kobe, thanks for response. I was thinking about that but my main concern is the pup doing damage to the wood kitchen cabinets, walls, etc. Kitchen is really the only room in our place where it would potentially work.
