Hi just looking for some advice. Asked my breeder which food Kyko would be weaned on so I could make sure I had time to order some. I've decided I'd prefer him on a more natural food without any cereals/wheat. I know I have to change over gradually but wondered how much do change a time and over how long a time to get him transitioned over?
Also does anyone have any advice on a good food? I was thinking field and trial puppy but as it's formulated for working dogs and we won't be working him is this still ok to feed?
    Thanks in advance

Our puppy's raw fed, takes a bit of planning to start with but not bad when you get the hang of it.

It helps to remember also that there is a change of water from the breeder's home to yours. We typically wait two weeks before attempting to change the food - a month is even better. This gives the puppy time to adjust to all the changes in environment before making the food transition.

After two - four weeks on the breeder's food, we transition over seven days - Day one is 1/4 new food 3/4's old food; Day three is 1/2 new 1/2 old; Day five is 3/4 new and Day seven is 100% new. If the stools change at any point, we go an extra day before making the next step.

I've just ordered a 14kg bag of the food the breeder is using. Decided to stick with it for at least a while. Now to find somewhere in my tiny kitchen to keep a 14kg bag

I buy in 14kg bags too. I got a nice plastic box from pet shop which fits in with the kitchen sort of, then just keep that topped up from the bag. Easier to get the food out with a scoop too.

done exactly this.......going round kitchen with a tape measure seeing where we could squeeze it in :D. If I find a new home for the hoover should fit in! On top of having to take my unit out of the hall to fit his crate in. That's off to live at nana's for a year or so. Stupid flat with no storage space! :(
