I currently feed Fergie 300g a day plus treats for training, is this enough....this is my first fur baby and there is so much to learn.

I feed buddy raw (natures menu) so I’m not 100% sure if it works out the same but I think it does. I feed 390g per day plus a few treats. He is just over 8kg so that’s pretty much spot on 5% of his body weight.

Recommendation for puppies I think is 5-10% of body weight. Buddy is a good size and fairly well average for his age I think. He seems to be doing just fine so I’ll try and keep to this ratio. Not sure what everyone else thinks but this is pretty much what I’ve read up on and been working on and it seems pretty good.

Hope that helps and is the correct information.

I really don't recommend paying any attention to quantities on food packets. If I fed my dogs the amount on food packets, they would all end up obese. The amounts are almost always way too high. Then you get to buy expensive prescription diet food, to help your dog lose all the weight...

Instead, feed according to eye. Assess your puppy's body condition and adjust what you feed accordingly. Just as you would with a child. No child is fed a certain amount according to weight or a certain % of their body weight each day.

You should be able to feel each individual rib on your dog. Your dog should have a waist when looked down on from above (before their back legs), and their tummy should have a tuck-up to it when viewed from the side. You can assess your dog's body condition using this chart: https://oregonvma.org/files/Purina-Dog-Condition-Chart.pdf

Buddy is 11 weeks old now, he was the biggest of his litter and a very energetic pup, not long before we can get him out, can’t wait!
