Hello, My lab girl is 3/4 lad 1/4 retreiver, she has just had a litter, the dad is full lab Just wondered what that makes the pups . Also wondered when to start weaning , yes im new to this lol Any advice much appreciated Lorraine
Lorraine, it sounds like you need a lot of help - because breeding is a huge endeavour with a lot of challenges. I would recommend www.avidog.com for all help relating to breeding, whelping and raising puppies - specifically their monthly $49.95 membership or their flagship A-Z course (which is $450 and worth every cent). If you want something free and to be in contact with a lot of experienced breeders, I would recommend the Breeding section of the ChampDogs forum: https://forum.champdogs.co.uk There are some breeders on here, but it is not as active for breeders as the CD forum. To answer your question about weaning, Avidog recommends delaying weaning until pups are 4 weeks old if mum is able to meet demand. Many other breeders start weaning around 3 weeks. A labrador IS a retriever... Do you mean one quarter golden retriever? It means the pups are crossbred retrievers - mostly labrador with a small amount of golden retriever.
It makes them mix. Just like any other mix breed dogs. What kind of retriever is her 1/4? There are 6 types....labrador included.
