    Hello,
Just wanted to say hello to everyone just got me a yellow & white lab mixed. I know he’s not a true pure breed but he’s a good puppy

Hi and welcome from me and my 8 month choc lab Isla.

I really dont know if that's a good weight since they are all so different. I have read the average weight gain for a Lab puppy is about 2 pounds a week. But don't think after reading on here that that's a good estimate.

    Welcome Bonez and Django.
    He looks gorgeous.
Can't comment on the weight as they all differ. So long as you are happy and him, don't worry

Welcome! Don’t worry, Django is in good company on the forum - our Dilly is a labxcollie. Glad the first vet visit went well. Things at the vets have improved greatly since the bad old days when most dogs shook when they got within sniffing distance of the dreaded doors!

Yes from what I’ve been told he will be on the lean side not as thick as most but he has put on a couple of pounds already. I gueyit all will catch up and level out. It doesn’t help he spends all day in the backyard with the cat chasing squirrels.

As regards keeping an eye on weight gain/loss: my vet told me that the best check is by look and feel. If you can feel the ribs and spine under a thin layer of skin and fur, but can’t see them when standing back that’s good. And the dog should have a clearly defined ‘waist’ beyond the ribs, both when viewed from above and from the side. So, after following the quantity guidelines on the feed you choose, then make minor adjustments using the look and feel method.
