Hello! We rescued our lab Buck from a friend who had found him wandering and had no success finding an owner, he’s a tall lanky yellow. I fell head over heels for him so we got Ada back in August, she is a petite little Fox Red (aka also yellow). Both are our hunting/bird dogs (obviously Ada is in training) I actually have a few questions: Ada’s ears: she holds her ears funny and I kind of have to massage them to get them to lay down, is this normal? Will they forever be goofy looking? Ada is 5 months old and seems VERY petite and ironically built Fox like...at 5 months she’s only about 30/35lbs, even the vet has commented on how small she is, her father was a very short and stout English and her mom is an English/American Cross, so maybe this is why? Buck Ada
Hello Jamie, welcome to the forum I think Ada's goofy ears sound sweet, but I'm sure someone with more expertise will be along shortly to tell us if it's normal or not!
Welcome to the forum! Some puppies do have slightly odd ear positions for a while, but if you are worried you can always get your vet to have a quick look
Hello and welcome. Our 6 month old pup had perfect flat ears when we got him at 9 weeks but when he started teething one ear folded in half.. I'm hoping it goes back to normal soon.
Thank you for the responses, my husband keeps saying he doesn’t think Ada is purebred and that we got taken advantage of, but she has AKC papers? She is VERY petite and very sweet but I’m also starting to wonder, her ears sit funky from time to time (I’m guessing it’s due to mood and teething?) she is 7 months and I think she’s sitting at MAYBE 45lbs...she seems VERY small for a lab https://www.flickr.com/photos/156025187@N03/shares/ZB150b (Before) https://www.flickr.com/photos/156025187@N03/shares/496125 (Ears now)
