How can I stop the smatching and biting fingers. I say nicely when offerd then when Willow is sitting and waiting then she gets the treat otherwise she snatches and acts like she is starving hungry. I now offer her her the treat in my hand and keep my fingers well clear of the little needles. She acts as though the food in her dish is going to disappear from in front of her. She was the smallest in the litter and they fed her first and it looks like they took her food away from her she was underweight when we got her so is always worried and scoffs it very quickly before its taken away. We always leave the dish down so she knows it's well and truly gone before we remove the dish. She is on wet food but if she is given dry she don't chew it just swallows the lot down. I know she is a hungry lab so not sure of anything will slow her down. As she is on wet food the anti bolt dishes won't work I don't think.
Lincoln is very food excitable too. I taught him "Easy" when taking a treat. Show the treat, Hold the treat in your closed hand, hold out your hand but Don't offer the treat till she stops biting at your hand. Practice this till she can lick or sniff your hand only. Then you can give the command "Easy". It's not perfect every time but it helps.
Just had a few treats in my hand and told her to take them nicely and she did. She picks things up really quickly.
