My 9 month lab has always been nervous of strangers despite lots and lots of early socialisation and following the happy puppy books advice.. anyone who approaches to give him some attention he barks at including anyone that comes to the house. He seems possibly fearful maybe over excited but not aggressive. The barking is very loud and lasts for a good 15 minutes with visitors so is very troublesome!

    Hi @Paula R

    Welcome to the site.

There is a folder on this forum called LAT. Watch the video therein and read the thread please.

Practice the LAT protocol at home, back garden before taking the dog out again and trying the protocol.

LAT is designed to desensitise and counter condition your dog to strangers.

The barking at home is a different issue, I suspect it involves protecting her and your territory.

Work on the LAT first. Ask questions if you have any.
