    hello,

We have a 3 month old black lab rescue, he is our first lab puppy! He is doing great. Other then all the biting and chewing! He sleeps pretty well through the night only getting up once to go for a potty break. Our issue is he’s now waking up around 4:50-5:00 and barking till we pretty well get up at 6:00! We’ve tried ignoring him, but he just doesn’t quit. he doesn’t need to go to the bathroom, he gets very excited in the morning and has tons of energy. We have had him crated in the kitchen since we got him and he goes to bed great and is quiet through the night. Looking for help as to how to get him to stop barking and sleep longer! Any advice would be much appreciated!

Try using an alarm clock. Set for a few minutes before the time he usually wakes up. Gradually extend it till you get to the time you want . Dogs are clever . He'll pick up the signs pretty quick. Our dogs sleep all through the night and they know when it's time to get up. If I get up in the night I just use a flashlight then back to bed . The dogs don't make a peep. If the alarm goes off it's go time ..

    Hi @Finns mum

Jade has given you sound advice. You must get up early enough to wake her.

One can expect a three-month old dog to last 3 hours before needing to urinate. So you are going to have to get up twice as Jade's suggestion bears fruit.

When you know the dog does not need to toilet [defecate or urinate] then you must ignore the barking, unless she is distressed. If you fail to ignore her, then you will be teaching her to bark to get your attention.
