    Hi All,

My fiance and I are looking to adopt a lab in the next few months. His parents have a yellow lab who was bred from both field and show labs and we love his disposition, but his breeder has since stopped breeding. We are from the Bay Area and looking for a reputable breeder, preferably in California. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Hello. I don't know of any specific breeders but if you go to
www.breeders.net type in Zip code and breed you'll get a list of breeders.

    Hi @allisonnoelle

Hmm. I don't understand the post. Adopt a Lab from a breeder? Did you mean buy?

I think you need to take into account that not all labs are alike., even from the same parents. You will need to spend some time with the litter, and seek the breeder's experience in choosing a Lab with the disposition you desire. Even then there is no certainty. The dog's disposition will be shaped too by your handling during the socialisation period. So I suggest you start reading about dog training theory now if you've never had a dog. Good luck.

Diamond P Labs in Walnut Grove might be of help. They specialize in gun and trial dogs. Good breeders.
