What is your recommendation to elimate urine smell outdoors (he goes on chipping stones). The weather has lifter a little over the weekend so has the smell. Current cleaning product from a pet shop has been ineffective to break the enzymes down. If relevant products in the UK. Thanks
I just used a bucket of soapy water (flash multi surface) for cleaning floors, outside the back door on concrete as Willow used to pee there then rince it away. She now pees on my plants lol There is no smell there now.
We have a fenced in area with a concrete floor. Every Spring we power wash it with bleach and soap water.
We have synthetic turf in our backyard. It is fairly small so real grass wouldn't last long! I have tried dilute white vinegar, which seems to help a bit. We have also just bought some outdoor enzyme cleaner (it is probably similar to Natures Miracle etc, but made for outdoors) so we'll see how that goes. It is very expensive and the particular brand is only available in Australia, but I'm sure there are similar things everywhere. It really does seem to depend on the weather. We have had a very hot, humid summer and it has been quite unpleasant at times.
Curious. Does the urine permeate the synthetic turf? Is it not possible to hose the turf and the urine goes into the soil base? Our builder trying to resolve our problem raised by the floods in May last year wanted to use synthetic turf.
You can hose it, and that does fix it as long as it is not really hot and humid. It would probably be fine in Tassie. We have turf with pretty good drainage, which I believe depends on the substrate used, so that's quite important. They also say that dogs can't rip it up. Try telling that to Chewie! We have weighed down the edges with heavy pavers until he is through his destructive adolescent phase which does actually seem to be improving slowly. He is more into sniffing and carrying our things than chewing them these days.
We've chosen the real thing. Have to keep her off the turf until it bonds with the substrate. She usually does some ploughing when she does number 2!
