So my lab (Marley) is 11 months old about to be a year on the 22nd this month and I'm dealing with him having explosive diarrhea twice today, but also on occasion from time to time. I had to start soaking his food in water to soften it because he inhales his food and dosen't chew which also has been causing diarrhea and throwing up, which when he tries, not always does something come up. He has a slow eater bowl but over time has figured out to eat a bit quicker than before. He is on Kirkland dog food for adults from Costco, he was on purina puppy chow at one point but he has been off that for over a month. I'm in a lost what to do. I'm giving him natrual pumpkin tonight to help his belly, but I know he is uncomfortable and I've been dealing with this for over a couple months.

    Welcome to the site @MarleyBoy

Have you been to your vet? If he is constantly having diarrhoea for a month, then that is a major health concern.

Why would eating too quickly result in diarrhoea?

It hasn't been all this month, yesterday we awoke to him in his kennel with diarrhea and then later yesterday the same agin outside of it, gave him pumpkin and he hasn't pooped since then. Last month in March he did have direahea in his kennel and we gave him pumpkin and it cleared it up. He has days where his poop is solid but sometimes there is days where its diarrhea or really soft poop. I can't seem to find any other reason why he would have diarrhea outside of eating, he is closely watched so he isn't eating things he shouldn't. When he eats fast he is inhaling air into his belly which can cause it to be upset. I'm trying everything I can right now to prevent him from eating too quickly and not swallowing his food and so far only thing I have found that works is soaking his food in water until soft and then feed it to him that way, idk if that's why he is having diarrhea, he has been eating it this way for 4 days.

Hi definitely take him to the vet,he may have a parasite,if nothing else at least the vet can give him good antibiotics and something to soothe his discomfort.

    Hope he's better soon

I would definitely go to the vet. While dogs can get diarrhoea from eating too much (not usually too fast) given that it has been going on this long I would be concerned regarding parasites or food intolerances.

I would also try to take in a fresh stool sample to the vet, if possible. They will want to send one off and it would speed up diagnosis if you can do the old "here's one I prepared earlier." I speak from (stinky) experience. Double bag it when you put it in the car!

Hope you get some answers soon and your pup feels better

So I believe I have finally found the cause for the diarrhea. 1 day after his incident with diarrhea, my other dog, we dont know her breed exactly had diarrhea as well, they were both on Kirkland dog food from Costco. They both had been switched recently from their old food and since then that's when the diarrhea started. We looked up some reviews on Kirkland dog food and were horrified by what we had found, numerous people had dealt with similar issues with their dog and lots of them had to be taken to the vet due to this, luckily my girlfriend and I caught it in time and we switched them to purina pro plan after seeing better reviews, we are hoping things get better from here on.
