We Canoe with ours. It is a lot easier to get a dog in or out of a canoe than most kayaks. Surprisingly it is easier to get a dog out of the water and into our canoes than into our 14' Wherry. The Wherry is wider, but with a V bottom it gets tippy when you go all the way to one side. With a Canoe I can stand up in the middle and help lift the dog in by the life jacket. Cooper is so strong, that she can almost get in by herself. With our dogs, we have to expect that they may decide to swim, and then decide to get back in the boat, so we plan for it. They always wear PFDs (DFDs ), mostly to give us a handle to help them into the boat, and to make them more visible in the water.
I can find photos of dogs in the canoe, or wherry, but I don't have any of hauling them in. It is too busy to take pictures. We sometimes have two Labs or a Lab and Samoyed in one canoe.
