I found that baby steps is the key to stop the crying while they are in their kennel! Start with an open door and reward after a few seconds if you're puppy remained silent. Then slowly increase the time she has to stay in and be silent to get a treat. He'll quickly get what you want him to do and settle in his crate. You could also try to feed him in his crate for a few days so he'll have a positive connection to it. Good luck and don't give up! A crate is sooo useful once they are used to it!

I think we need some more information to be able to help.

Where is the crate situated? And where are you, when the crying is happening? Is the puppy crying for hours or briefly? What have you tried so far and what has the puppy's learning history with the crate, been?

My advice is be persistent and making it a nice are chill with him in the crate (I once got in haha) the cries are hard to hear but be persistent in the calm downs or be quiets and reward positively they'll get it in no time.

My boy has been known to gather his best toys into his crate and close the door behind him :?

Our Harry (14 weeks) does this - all his favourite chew toys are taken into his crate and he runs inside as fast as he can as soon as he hears me preparing his meals!
He hasn't mastered closing the door behind him yet though

Mine does the same! Sits and waits in his crate when I start weighing up everyrthing and he will revisit several times to make sure it's all gone.
