hi all I wanted to know peoples opinions on why the puplic is so scared of certain dogs for example my neighbour has two Rottweilers 7yrs and 5yrs and there so sweet and gentle. i walk with him , i walk one of his Rottweilers with him. Everytime hes walking mothers will shout at him to keep his monsters away. It angers me so much as its not there fault and hes such a great dog owner and trainer. Why are people so scared is it just because of the bad and unfair rap that Rottweilers have? I just wish that people knew that Rottweilers are not dangerous and that they can be just as nice as labs with the right owner through training and socialization.
Seems a bit overboard, especially if the dogs have never done anything to the people yelling at them.
I think in the UK they were historically used as guard dogs and as a symbol to make people respect their owners. Typically they were not often seen as a sweet family pet. They get the same harsh treatment as the poor staffy
We went for a walk with my friends Rottweiler last weekend & someone picked their jack Russell up even though neither the Rottie or my lab was paying the dog the slightest bit of attention. I very loudly said to my friend Good God you'd think he was an axe murderer & not just a young dog who was acting impeccably
