Hi. We've got a two year old lab, who has recently started pooing overnight. Up till about 4 months ago she was ok and never had an accident. But since then, she probably messes about 2 or three times a week. She's on a kibble feed, which we switched to a hypoallergenic one, and that didn't make any difference. We feed her twice a day, and have started feeding her 2/3 of her food in the morning and the rest around 4 pm in the afternoon. She gets two walks a day and always barks to go out in the day time. When she was a puppy, she had around 6 months of antibiotics for a prolonged UTI that wouldn't go away. But since then has been fine. If she'd been messing since a puppy, I would think it might be that she needs some probiotics to sort out her gut. But we're just not sure what to do now? Her current food is lamb and brown rice, so there's no grain in it. And there are no changes to her routine, home situation etc. Any hints, or thoughts or help would be much appreciated!
No, but she’s in a small utility room overnight, which isn’t much bigger than a large crate. So when she does mess overnight, it’s quite close to her bed.
Our vet told me to give our's the children's dose of immodium. Then feed her hamburger and white rice for a few days. Never give them anything sugar free as the sugar alcohols cause the problem you are having.
