Hi, my 11 month old lab can play fetch in the house no issues, brings the toy back every time. Outside is a different story, she will chase the toy but will not bring it back, maybe so much to sniff that she does not care. I can keep throwing the toy she will chase it but that is all. Any tricks or ideas?

    Thank you

    Hi @Madone
Your cue to fetch is currently interwoven with the environment in which you taught the retrieve exercise. Not surpringly, dogs do not generalise the skill when it is cued in a different environment. You have to re-teach it in many different environments. I suggest you teach it again in another room in the house. Then the balcony. Then the back garden. And so on and so on. Keep reinforcing in all the different places.
