Hi! Hello! I'm new! I've been on forums before but for different topics. I have a very naughty 15 week old yellow Labrador! She is adorable but pushing all our buttons at the moment. We have had a lab before but he passed away in February. We had him as a pup but that was 10 years ago and we have obviously blocked out all memories of his naughty behaviour! Our biggest problem at the moment is toilet training. She goes out for a pee and poo in the morning and last thing in the evening. We leave the patio doors open for her so that she can go out if she needs to but 3 times to day she has come in from the garden and pee'd on the sitting room carpet! How do we stop her doing that? Any suggestions welcome!

I would say at the moment she still doesn’t know that outside is the only place to go. You would need to be going outside with her at regular intervals and reward her for going outside.

Hello, the best way to train is take them out very frequently and instantly reward for success. Leaving doors open initially does not help as you have not reinforced exactly where you want your pup to go. Even so at 15 weeks they can go in the right place and then wee 5 mins later indoors. This is not naughty behaviour, they are young and learning and still have a very immature bladder. Try shutting the door and taking outside and rewarding swiftly, use a lead if needed and add a word so she will associate that with what’s she’s doing. A word is helpful in the future because if you are going out I just tell Meg to “have a wee” and she does :)
