Waverly is generally a good pup with her off days. But all in all she is great.

But I've noticed if I leave the room she is in she screams at the top of her lungs. And I do believe this is my own fault. I work from home and have severe social anxiety so rarely leave my house. But I do have to leave sometimes and since she is not a fully trained service dog yet she has to stay home. And this will also hinder her ability to be a service dog if I have to go to the hospital or somewhere she isn't allowed.

According to her SD trainer, she is the perfect prospect. I've emailed them about this behavior but will not hear anything back until Monday.

It isn't just if I leave the house. If I walk out of eyeline she screams. And she does not stop screaming.

My mom is staying with me currently. I had a Dr. appointment and left Waverly with her. She screamed from the time I left until the second I walked through the door and I was gone for hours. She did it so long she lost her voice. I was extremely worried. No amount of consoling from my mom helped.

I've tried leaving for a few seconds and not giving her time to start crying and treating when she is quiet. But she literally starts the very second she does not see me. Do I just do a quick step out of sight and pop back in the room since hers is almost instant?

This is something I have no idea how to train. All of my other dogs just did not care if I left as long as they had something to do. She ignores toys, kongs, everything.

How old is she ? My puppy used to do that too when she was the first few months old. Even when I got in the shower with her in the room she would scream!

What I do when I leave is I tempt her into her crate with a kong that I just fill with wet puppy food and shut the door and don’t acknowledge her and just leave, so I don’t make a fuss. The first maybe 10 times we’d check out indoor security and at first she would be crying but she eventually settles and goes to sleep ! Now she is fine when I have to go out as she know she’s going to get a treat. Unfortunately we have to crate her when we leave otherwise she will dig up the carpet at the front door thinking we are on the other side.

While she doesn’t scream anymore, if I shut the door with her on the other side of it she will scratch at the door and cry. But since I work at home and do craft things, sometimes I need to sand stuff and she can’t be in the room.

You just have to keep leaving them even though it’s hard they will get used to it eventually, I try not to make me going out a big deal for her

    She is 3 months old.

I guess I got lucky with my other dogs. They were fine if left alone. My dog that recently passed did have a little separation anxiety but give him a kong of a chew and he was fine.

What do I do if she completely ignores her kong or all her toys and just screams. She has screamed to the point of losing her voice.

Today I've been quickly stepping out of sight and then giving her a treat almost immediately before she can cry.

She's crate trained at night and has a pen during the day. Maybe I should try her crate during the day as well since she seems to love her crate. She has to be penned if I leave or she tries to chew through my couch. But since she's good on potty training I tend to just pen her during the day instead of her crate.
