I’m worrying myself because I woke up last night and heard poppy making sick noises, she wasn’t sick there were just a few little milky white blobs of what I assume was sick in her bed.
She hasn’t done it again but now she isn’t her usual energetic self she’s a bit lethargic, she has eaten her food fine and her poop is Normal she just seems a bit off.

We live in a flat so I took her out for a pee and a poop and we usually just walk around my apartment complex a bit when we do this. Normally she pulls a bit trying to see things and sniff different things but she just walked calmly by my side.

Should I be worried? Or is it normal for puppies just to feel a bit ill sometimes like humans do sometimes?

She’s coming up to 5 months old.

I’m contemplating taking her to the vet but my partner thinks I’m overreacting. We’d also have to walk to the vet so I don’t want to push her if she’s just feeling a bit ill

If she tries to be sick again and just brings up bile you probably should take her to the vet. Is it possible she has eaten something she shouldn’t have?

I noticed she had picked up some onion skin last night. But she didn’t eat it she just licked it. She’s also teething so I’m wondering if maybe that’s why?

But yes if she is sick again I’m definitely going to call the vet ! She hasn’t since 4am though and has kept her breakfast down (7am)

Yes they can just feel a bit off, just like we can. However, dogs are a lot tougher than us and are usually quite poorly before we notice any diffence in them.
She might just have a bug and nothing to worry about but keep a close eye on her.
One of my pups was particularly well behaved in a training session when he was 5 months old. He was sick that night and a bit off colour the next day so I popped him to the vets suspecting a blockage. They ran bloods and he had acute kidney failure and was very poor indeed.
I'm not trying to panic you, but you know what is and isn't normal for your girl and I'd say that if you are worried, I would pop to the vets for a quick blood test.

Unfortunately that’s labs for you. They eat anything(except salad leaves in Toby’s case) My previous lab wouldn’t go near a pretzel! Very bizarre. Must have been a spice in them.

Thanks! If she isn’t any better tomorrow I’m definitely ringing the vet first thing , she has been pooping and eating completely fine so I hope she’s just a bit ill. She played with a big group of dogs yesterday so maybe she caught something from one of them

yep!! She picks up everything off the floor, even if we have picked everything up she still manages to find something we missed! I have no idea where she even got the skin from as we haven’t had onions in days !

Shes perked up a bit this afternoon! She was sat Begging for some of my lunch (didn’t give her any as I don’t encourage begging) and when I took her out again for the toilet she was chasing some
Leaves blowing in the wind ! She also wanted to chew one of her toys. She’s not 100% as she’s back to laying on the sofa, but she’s definitely more lively then she was this morning. Fingers crossed she keeps improving and it was just s bug she caught from one of the other dogs

If I remember correctly when Kyko first started teething he was sick once or twice, I remember him doing it in the office at work with me & me thinking I'd have to take him home on my lunch break. He was fine after an hour or so though. Also not very long ago he was really quite sick, no energy, diarrhoea, off his food. Popped him to the vets who checked for blockages, checked his temperature which was fine & put it down to a bug, or something he had managed to eat while we weren't looking. He gave him an injection of anti sickness & an antibiotic to be on the safe side, within 15 mins off getting home he wanted food, so assume he just felt nauseous. He was back to himself the next day

Thanks! I hope poppys back to normal tomorrow too! She was only sick once last night and today she’s just been laid and slept all day, she’s eating and drinking just fine though and her poops are normal so I’m wondering if it’s just a bug she has caught or something !

She’s only just started teething this past week as she lost her first tooth last week so I’m wondering if it’s connected to that too

pleased to hear she's feeling better, if she's anything like Kyko she'll have the feeling sorry for herself face down to a tee. Kyko has limber tail at the moment & looks so sad, probably due to him losing his wag

Aww boo I hope he feels better soon!! yep she had the biggest puppy dog eyes! But she’s back to stealing things she can’t have now (socks, cushions, my childhood teddy etc) and playing with her toys so I think she’s definitely better!

Hi Leigh,at last someone else has heard of limber tail! We wondered if Isla had it,her tail goes out about 20cm from her body, then seems to kink and point down to the floor.

When did Kyko develop his? Have you any information about limber tail? Neither our vet or trainer knew anything about it

I didn’t know that was the name for it but my previous lab had it over Christmas one year. We put it down to too much excited tail wagging. It got better after about 3 days. They do look strange with it hanging limp though!Hope Keko is better soon.

Hi,pleased to hear your pup is feeling much better. It is a worry when they are not themselves. I don't like to risk anything and will take Isla over to the vet for the slightest thing, lol. Sounds like you're girl is on the mend off she's back to mischief!

He developed it Sunday evening, we had picked him up Saturday after he had been in kennels for 16 nights while we were on holiday. Then on the Sunday we had an hour playing in the paddock, then about half an hour in the snuffle run (small woodland paddock designed for sniffing treats etc.) where he had a major attack of the zoomies, then around 15 mins on a long line round the woods, all in heavy rain. He went to sleep when we got home & a few hours later I noticed the kink in his tail & he wasn't wagging it. I knew about limber tail from these forums only & he was already booked into the vets Monday for his boosters. The vet said it will have been a combination of over wagging when he saw him & over exertion on the Sunday, as we have no way of knowing how long he had been exercised or anything while we were away. It was very uncomfortable for him Sunday but he now has very little swelling left & is back to wagging again & almost holiding his tail in the correct position

that's what our vet said too much tail wagging due to over excitement when we picked him up from being in the kennels for 16 nights while we were on holiday, & possibly too much exercise on Sunday as we have no way of knowing how long he was confined or exercised for while we were away. Thanks he's very nearly back to normal now

    Is Poppy better now?
Mine have had limber tail a twice over the years, once in a spaniel and once in a labrador. On both occations, they had been wet and not dried properly. It is reallly really painful but loxicom and a couple of days rest usually sorts it. I do make a point of drying all of the bums and tails thoroughly after they have been swimming, bathed or out in the rain now.
