Hi all, I’m hoping someone can help. I have a lovely 5year old black lab called Winston. He has always pulled us everywhere on walks but all of a sudden(last two weeks) he keeps stopping on walks, just sits down! In fact I tried to walk him today and he didn’t even want to leave the front door! If we drive to the park and let him off the lead straight away he then runs around like he’s loving life! Has anyone had the same thing happen to an older Lab like Winston?
I would scatter some treats along the path from your front door and just let him sniff along in his own time and learn that it is rewarding to be outdoors...
This is a similar problem that I posted regarding a fellow dog walker. https://thelabradorforum.com/thread...h-a-friends-dog-that-runs-when-spooked.27903/ She has tried all sorts of enticement but he will still only walk if he goes in the car first. Similar age too. He now spooks very easily and runs back to the car if scared. Sorry not any help but it does happen. She is trying to be more relaxed about it and just going with it at the moment in the hope he switches back.
