Hi, our Labrador puppy (male 10 months) was diagnosed with muscular (centronuclear) myopathy a couple of months ago. Our vet hasn’t got much info on it so I was wondering if anyone out there had experience with this ailment?
    Thanks

    Hi Dorica
Welcome to the site. I don’t have any experience but just looked it up.So sorry to hear you are dealing with this.
How is your puppy doing? Is he badly affected.
Have you spoken to the breeder? From what I read it is genetic and needs both parents to have the gene. They need to beware so they don’t breed for the same pair again. It also says 25% of the litter are usually affected so if the breeder is in touch with the others you may find someone to compare notes with etc.
Someone with more knowledge may answer soon but there don’t seem to be any chats on here about it.

Thanks. The breeder does know so all sorted there. It is pretty rare according to our vet - 1 in 20,000?! We are really hoping that we’ll see an improvement when he has finished growing but at the moment he finds it hard to go on walks and has to sit down often - his back arches and he gets all wobbly. The vet says he is not in pain as it is not an inflammatory disease but he does seem pretty distressed. Really hoping someone else on here has had some experience with it and has some good news .

I know the feeling of having a young sick dog. It seems so unfair. Toby was diagnosed with cancer at 18months. Do lots of research so you know what questions to ask the vet or a specialist if you go to see one. I found a couple of Facebook groups as nobody on here had experience but I have moved away from Facebook now as it was too depressing. I hope things improve soon.

Thank you. It is a long road. We are now 8 months in. This weeks scans/aspirations were clear so back in 3 months.
