Almost to the end of week 1, puppy almost 9 weeks old. She is only sleeping about 3 hours before crying to go to the toilet. I have just put her into her crate after 3 nights in box in our room. When I put her to bed I need to tell her a couple of times to go to sleep, she then settles without much fuss. Should I try and keep her up late ( midnight seems to be a time I’ve seen quoted) then wait to see if she sleeps through, or set an alarm to try and get her up before she cries?? Feeling a bit sleep deprived ( already). thanks in advance for any advice.
That's normal shes only 9 weeks old.it will improve as her bladder matures. If you keep her up until, late you will have a tired and cranky puppy on your hands. If shes needs to go for a pee just take her. The gap will get on longer. get her used to out for a wee then back to bed no fuss straight back to sleep. You don't really need that much sleep and it will soon improve.

I would go to bed at your normal time and set your alarm for a couple of times in the night to take her out. I shared the chore with my husband. I would go to bed early and he would do the late evening shift and I would get up in the night. Easier with two. You should soon be back to having a decent nights sleep.
So do I put Suki to bed in her crate ( going back to having her in our bedroom, having her in her crate in the kitchen was a crying howling barking nightmare two nights of 2-3 hours..) when I go to bed, or leave her with my husband?
There is no saying what we did was right but it seemed to work. For the first 3-4 weeks my husband would have him in the lounge from say 9.30-11 and I would go to bed early(very early for most I know) He would take him out for a wee at 11 and put him in his crate in the bedroom. OH slept in the spare room on a work night. For the first week or so I set an alarm twice in the night and took him for a wee then once after that. We are up at 6 anyway. It just meant that if he started crying and I felt it wasn’t for a wee I could talk to him and he would settle. After about 6 weeks I moved him to the kitchen but by then he was used to having sleeps in the crate in the kitchen during the day. You will find it easier to borrow a second crate for the bedroom. It is a bit of trial and error. Others will have different ideas.
Just an update on the night time adventures. Suki now sleeping through the night, put her to bed around 11 after final wee and usually make it til about 6-I can live with that. Thank you for all advice b
