Hi, new here, not new to forums. Did this one change the look? I may have been on here once before? our third lab Kai is 2.5 years old. in the last 2-3 months his poop has become overly hushy, soft servy with many variations - none normal. his poop has never been the "perfect poop" but now its a problem. But not diarrhea and not more frequent. Our 3.5 year old is on the same food with normal firm poops. Both have been on Fromm large breed mixed with some of the chicken, salmon, etc bags. Vet has done PCR poop testing and no parasites. we did two weeks of the "bland diet" and that didnt help at all. Hes been on probiotics for a month or two. I hate to think about trying new foods, but could that be it? almost all his food has chicken and quite a few vegies. Any thought and ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Chicken seems to cause problems for many dogs.Mine is ok with turkey but not chicken. Have you considered raw? Also hydrolysed duck based kibble sorted Toby’s stools before I switched to raw.
I have considered the chicken being the issue. Trying a pre and probiotic blend first - vet recommended...if the problem persists I think I will try a limited ingredient food without chicken...like Zignature. I have used this once before on a previous dog who got horrible gas on most other foods. Raw-I havent really considered it. Kai eats SUPER fast and tends to barf when i add anything to his food because the consumption speed just goes up...
we are gonna try no chicken and no grain. we may reintroduce grains, but not wheat or gluten. see what happens
We give Tucker and Abby a scoop(good tablespoon) of pure pumpkin with each meal. It is great fibre and keeps their stools near perfect.
Hi - is that pumpkin seeds or pumpkin flesh? I would be interested to know. The only food my lab seems to tolerate is Virbac A.
