Anyone had experience of a cut on Lab’s tail? How best to treat - dreading having to have it docked if it doesn’t heal.

What does your vet advise ? It should heal if not infected as long as you can stop your dog from getting to it .

Is the wound by the tip of the tail? Whatever caused it u will now need to prevent ”happy tail syndrome” which is just repeated reopening of the wound from him hitting it in things when his tail is wagging. U will want to avoid any kennel that is small enough for him to hit tail on. Don’t pet him or get him excited near a wall or any other hard surface. Have ur vet wrap it with a syringe case to protect it.
