Lucius is now 5 years old and recently developed a black lump on his back end. In the past few months it's not grown at all and every time Lucius has gone down to the vet for something else the vet has checked it and is not overly concerned and has said it could be a MCT but a benign one as it is not growing and no others have appeared.

However the past few weeks I have noticed he has a few small skin tags on the backs of his legs and on on his face just by his nose.

He has two on his lip on the inside of his mouth but he has had them since he was two years old and they've never bothered him.

Should I be worried ? Next time we see the vet j am going to mention them but I was wondering if they are normal on a 5year old dog or if I should be concerned.

    Hi again.
I was thinking about you recently and was wondering how that lump was doing.
My initial response is to get the lump aspirated but I have heard so many reports of aspirations setting of an allergic response in MCT’s and causing them to grow that I don’t think I now would.
In the Facebook group I am in there are many reports of MCT’s starting off as skin tags. However I also know that many dogs as they get older can develop completely benign skin tags too.
It’s a tricky one but if that lump does start to grow I would get it removed surgically rather than aspirate.

Thanks for the help! our vet has said to keep an eye on it and if he begins to grow he might consider having it removed and testing the tissue but for now he's not worried. I haven't mentioned the skin tags but honestly they haven't been bothering him and he's had two of them for two years and they haven't grown so hoping the new ones won't either.
