My family and I live in Connecticut and like many other families we are looking for a Labrador retriever puppy from a reputable breeder. My wife and I are both public school teachers and we have a 9 year old son and a 7 year old daughter. With all four of us being home during this COVID 19 pandemic, we thought it would be the PERFECT time to have puppy join our family. After placing over 100 calls and emails we finally found a puppy and are supposed to pick her up on May 16th. My family was so excited that we found a puppy that would join our family at the perfect time as we will be able to be home with it until school starts back up again.

To make a long story short, we didn't do as much research as we should have. The breeder does not seem reputable and we have many unanswered questions as well as the breeder backtracking on many of the facts he originally stated about when, where and how we would be picking up our puppy. The most concerning issue is in regard to the conditions in which the litter have been kept in since birth. We were wondering if any of you folks might have any resources of an available Labrador Retriever from a REPUTABLE breeder that would be available to go home to our family in the near future. Any help you can provide would be extremely appreciated. Thank you.

Hi there, sorry to hear you have been disappointed. It's unusual for anyone to be willing to promote a particular breeder but there are steps you can take to make sure you are on the right track. Have a look at this page: Puppy Search Guidelines lots of info there about finding and checking out a breeder.

During the pandemic can seem like a great time, but there are significant disadvantages in adopting a puppy when your opportunities to socialize the puppy are likely to be restricted. More about that here: Lockdown With A Puppy. Hope you find those helpful, and good luck with your search :)

I live in CT as well. We have got our pup from a good breeder on Long Island. They have a great reputation and a very good network of owners who talk everyday and are very active and helpful. Where in CT are you? Here is a picture of Sam, now 6.5 months. We got him at 8 weeks on January 1 st. [IMG]
