Hello all! I’ve come here to introduce my lab and also ask if anyone has seen anything like this. I got a yellow lab as a puppy 2.5 years ago from a Lab farm in Florida that has been breeding since the 70s. The owner said he’s never seen it happen before in his litters. She is AKC registered and comes from a long line of labs. She has one chocolate paw (she’s a yellow lab). Her mom was a chocolate lab and father a yellow lab. She’s the only one in her litter that has this. Even her nails where she is marked chocolate are dark colored to. I’ve seen other labs like this online but the color is always black on yellow labs, never this brown color. Has anyone ever seen this? I started to read things like she might not be a purebred but I ordered a dog DNA kit so I will see soon. By the way, this is Maddie! This was her mom and siblings...
Hello and welcome to the forum I'm afraid I can't shed any light on how Maddie got her special paw, but she's a very lovely looking dog!
From my understanding, a DNA test can not prove whether or not she is purebred. (I am not saying she isn't purebred.) This webpage has some information on different mismarks known in the Labrador breed: http://blueknightlabs.com/mismarks/index.html
Hi there just wondering if you got the results of your DNA testing? And say that Maddie looks adorable in her photos!
