    Hi everyone

I have a nine month old puppy who over the last 6-8 weeks seems to be panting most of the time even in the cooler weather - he seems fine in every other respect (he’s had two bouts of Giardia which he’s getting treatment for) he’s gaining weight has a massive appetite not overweight - he’s definitely going through the “adolescence” stage! When he’s asleep or sits or lays down the panting stops and the vet cannot see anything wrong with him - do Labrador’s do this generally - he’s a chunky lab and is going to be big boy (he’s 65lbs at the moment) due to the COVID he’s not been blood tested yet as only emergencies are being seen. Any help or experiences of this would be most appreciated

    Hi Emma
This may be a completely random comment but in your avatar your dogs paws point outwards. Is that how they are now or did he out grow it? Just thinking if he is panting only when standing he maybe in pain from his joints.

Thanks for replying does this mean his paws aren’t formed correctly? I do
Thanks for your reply I cannot work out how to upload another photograph to show you - does this mean his paws aren’t formed properly?

If you go to the bottom of the home page and look at the technical section it tells you how to post a photo.
A lot of puppies paws are Easty/ Westy to begin with and they eventually straighten. If you put that into the search box on this page other threads come up. I am probably barking up the wrong tree here but it was just a thought.

I have to say that none of our Labs panted when they had not been exercising or perhaps in a very hot environment. It seems to be a characteristic of the Labs I've been around, that they normally have their mouths closed when they are quiet. It makes them look less friendly than Sammies, who seem to always have their mouths open and tongues hanging out ;).
