Hi I’m a dog lover and my new lab pup is the 4th dog I’ve had in my life. My family adopted a senior poodle when I was 15. He lived well into my early 20’s, then I adopted my own dog when I was 26, a 5 yr lab mix from a pet hoarding situation, she passed from cancer 2 years later. It would be a few years before I adopted another dog. When I did adopt again it was a 10 month old black lab mix who changed my life. He was absolutely amazing, great with people, other dogs and a wonderful companion for running, boating, hiking and snuggling on the sofa. Sadly he passed at 8 years old in February of 2020 from liver cancer. Fast forward to July and I decided to love (adopt) again. I rescued an 8 week old lab puppy mix, I’ve had the little guy in my home for a week now and whew it has been interesting and there’s been A LOT to learn. Looking forward to this forum and meeting everyone.
Hi welcome to the forum and congratulations on adopting rescue dogs. Going through cancer with a dog is very hard. We are there at the moment. Hope you strike it lucky with this one and have lots of happy years together.
Cancer is the worst! There's so much love from them and all you want to do is make it better for them.
I have two labs, Zeke who’s 4.5 and Jake who’s 13 weeks. I love them so much. I think Jake finally has got the hang of potty training and knows his name. He also knows sit and come. He also walks fairly well on leash. I’m going to start teaching him more things this week. The hardest thing right now is getting him to stop barking.
