My dogs tasted cheerios for the first time and went cray cray about it! Is it ok to give some as a snack/ treat?
Labradors love almost any food(dropped salad leaves stay on the floor) but it is up to us to choose what is healthy for them. I wouldn’t give sugary snacks.
I had to go and check this because heavens knows why I even knew it in the first place, but plain Cheerios in the U.S. (which is where I think you are Jean?) contain far less sugar than the plain variety sold in the UK (where JD and I are currently enjoying a whole lot of rain). It's one of those weird quirks - in the U.S. they're actually plain oat cereal, whereas our UK classic version is a mix of grains and coated in syrup. So I'm going to go slightly the other way, and say that a small number, given in moderation, aren't necessarily a bad thing. For example, if your dog perceives them as a high value reward, you could use them to reinforce new skills in training, or an emergency recall cue
Well spotted! Was remembering giving the kids little pots of Cheerios in the car to keep them quiet. Probably not approved of now either
We did that too! My favourite application of Cheerios (so far, there's still time!) was by a friend who used them to potty train her boys by dropping one into the toilet bowl as a target
