    Hi,

This is just a general chat as apposed to a serious question.

But is anybody else's Lab puppy/dog completely crazy? Hahaha...

My puppy is officially 6 months old and he is absolutely MENTAL!!! I've never had a Lab before and many people told me they can be quoite energetic and hard work at times, this sounded right up my street as I am a single, young person and get quite lonely living alone so this little bundle of joy has definitely lightened up my world :'-)

Here are some of the crazy things he does:

    1. I sit on the living floor a lot when I'm on my laptop or whatever and this puppy climbs on the couch, climbs up on the back of the couch and literally death jumps OFF the couch and jumps directly on me. I thought it was just a thing he'd do once or twice but he's been doing it for months now. (I love it haha)

    2. He's forever picking things up off the ground outside and has a fond habit of just keeping them in his mouth, he doesn't chew them or bite them just holds onto them....for ages! I live in my City's city center so it's busy, and lots of hustle and bustle and I often take him for walks around town, so he's used to loud noises, lots of people etc. I brought him in yesterday from a walk and noticed he had something white in his mouth, because he doesn't chew things and just holds it, it's hard to notice. Anyway to my horror he'd picked up a *ondom off the floor outside and held it in his mouth for God knows how long!! I apologise if this is rude but it made me laugh, he then had a cheek to look disappointed when I took it off him.

    3. KNOCKS MY BIN OVER so that he has access to the old/scraps of food in there! He's eaten: stale chicken, half a tub of cookie dough ice cream, EGGS the list goes on!

    4. Climbs inside my wash basket and takes out the dirty washing and keeps it in his mouth!!!!! I found a few pairs of socks or some of my underwear laying around the house wondering how on Earth it got out the dirty laundry basket...turns out he loves to climb in and hoard my dirty socks in his mouth hahahah...poor dog.....I'm surprised has hasn't had to go the Vet!!!

    5. Last one, I keep his treats in a special draw in my living room and he KNOWS this. He always walks over to that draw and just randomly starts preforming tricks in hopes that I'll give him a treat! I know that many people are biased and think their dog is the smartest but my puppy is so intelligent. I'm genuinely blown away everyday by how clever he is. He's still only a baby but wow...he's very intelligent..and very greedy.

What's your Lab like? Is he/she crazy like mine? Anything that your Lab has done previously or recently that sticks out? Any funny stories?

Here's my little rascal if anybody is interested:

Beautiful puppy. Yes, most lab pups are a little crazy, but sorry to be a Killjoy, but some of these behaviours may end up with a very ill or dead puppy.
I would suggest that a (possibly 30kg) dog jumping off the back of the sofa onto your head could end in tears. Picking up things on the street, especially in the city is dangerous. Carrying socks is fine until they swallow one. A swallowed sock may reappear with no issue, or might require surgery to remove. Rummaging in the bin; what if there was a chicken bone in there, or medication, or grapes/raisins or anything else toxic?
I know this sounds all very negative, but I do not see these as amusing behaviours at all.

I most definitely do not encourage these behaviours and always use positive re inforcement when training him to do the opposite. This just just a light hearted post detailing crazy things he does.

But you sound like a barrel of laughs, I bet you're the life of all the parties.

I would be careful with laundry! My old lab loved to chew cloth but unlike my first lab, he stole laundry and sometimes ate it. I found a small piece of cloth is his poop once and was always on guard. One day, he got into my husbands gym bag when he went to the bathroom and he never saw he ate a sock. That one was 1000 surgery sadly. He came out fine but you can never be too careful. Some dogs don't actually ingest but you never know.
