I just bought home a 10 week black lab last Saturday - so he's only been home with me for 5 days.

I am the one home with him, feeding, playing - potty training.

He seems very shy with my husband when he comes home from work.

Do I need to worry that he is only bonding with me or will he grow out of this and warm up to my husband?

Is your husband wanting to resolve this? If so could he take the pup out for a little walk and training in the garden when he gets home?
Even some training in the kitchen.
We have quite a few labs and whoever does the training with them, it's their dog; regardless of who spends more time with them.

Hi Donna. This is super early days for a pup in a new home, so I wouldn't worry about the shyness. Your husband can help by feeding him tasty tidbits, and doing some puppy training games with him. Your pup may grow to have a 'favourite' adult but that needn't stop him bonding with you both to some degree, if that's what you and your other half want :)

It just takes a little time and also for your husband to take care of him a little.
